Chinese Medicine for Digestive Health

When Digestive Symptoms Start Affecting Everyday Life

Digestive problems can become an unwelcome part of daily life.

What can I eat? Why am I bloated again? Why do my bowels keep changing? Why do I feel so tired after eating?

Symptoms such as bloating, reflux, constipation, loose stools, nausea, gas and abdominal discomfort may come and go or persist for longer periods.

Some people already have a medical diagnosis. Others may have had investigations that have ruled out serious disease, yet their symptoms continue.

A Whole-Person Approach

Good care starts with understanding the wider picture.

Digestive symptoms rarely exist in isolation. During your consultation, we look at your digestion alongside your health history, medications, sleep, energy, stress, lifestyle and any other symptoms that may be relevant.

This helps me understand the pattern as a whole and decide what may be appropriate for you — including what not to recommend.

How Traditional Chinese Medicine Looks at Digestion

Traditional Chinese Medicine considers the pattern behind your digestive symptoms, rather than looking at one symptom in isolation.

We consider:

  • when symptoms occur

  • what improves or aggravates them

  • appetite and eating patterns

  • bowel habits

  • energy and fatigue

  • sleep

  • stress and emotional strain

  • temperature and fluid patterns

  • menstrual or hormonal health where relevant

  • other symptoms occurring alongside digestion

Two people may both experience bloating or constipation, but their underlying TCM patterns may be different. This is why Chinese herbal prescriptions are individualised rather than selected simply according to the name of a condition.

Your Health Comes First

I only recommend care that I believe is appropriate for your individual situation. If Chinese herbal medicine is not suitable, I will tell you.

Clear, Personalised Guidance

I explain what I am seeing from a Traditional Chinese Medicine perspective, what I recommend and why, so you understand your options.

Common Digestive Concerns

Individual Care

Your care is based on your own symptoms, health history and TCM presentation — not a standard formula for everyone with the same digestive complaint.

  • Bloating and abdominal fullness

  • Constipation

  • Loose stools or diarrhoea

  • Alternating bowel habits

  • Acid reflux and heartburn

  • Gas and digestive discomfort

  • Poor appetite

  • Nausea

  • Heaviness or fatigue after eating

  • Stress-related digestive symptoms

  • Digestive symptoms alongside fatigue or brain fog

When digestion becomes unpredictable, it can affect far more than mealtimes.

Bloating, constipation, loose stools, reflux, nausea or discomfort after eating can affect your energy, concentration and everyday wellbeing. Your consultation gives us time to look at the wider picture and understand what may be contributing to your symptoms.
